The 79 PSB teachers from the Third District came to the Governor's Office on April 27 to personally thank Defensor. PSB teachers from other districts are also scheduled to visit the Governor's Office in the next few days.
This is the first time that the provincial government would give salaries to the PSB teachers during summer vacation.
Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) chief Alma Ravena said there are a total 272 PSB-funded teachers in the province scattered in different public elementary and secondary schools.
She said the teachers will receive P12,000 salary each for the months of April and May.
Defensor said it is only proper that PSB teachers will be given their salaries even during vacation since they have to feed their families.
"I am wondering why they are not given their salaries during summer, why? Are they not eating during the months of April and May? Makaluluoy man sila," the governor quipped.
PSB teachers are funded by the provincial government. They are assigned in different elementary and secondary public schools in the entire province.
However, aside from their salary the PSB teachers do not receive benefits similar to that of teachers under the Department of Education. (ECGarcia/ Capitol News) Share this: Share Facebook
