2011 Craft Fair, Fashion Revue, Talent Showcase and $20 Challenge « Clover Gazette

Our 2011 Buncombe County 4-H Craft Fair, Fashion Revue & Talent Showcase is scheduled to begin at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 14th at Eliada Home.  We will be in the Paul Amos Recreation Center, as we were last year.

Detailed guidelines, entry forms and deadline information about those 4-H contests can be found on the links below.    All entry forms are due NO LATER THAN Monday, May 9, 2011 to the Buncombe County Extension Office.  Information and directions for submitting your entries can be found on the entry forms for each contest.  For more information contact Cathy Hohenstein or Holly Jordan at our office at 828.255.5522.

Along with these three contests we will also have the $20 Challenge.  With this contest we acknowledge that, although sewing is a very important skill to develop, it is not always the most cost-effective way of meeting our clothing needs.  Therefore, 4-H'ers can enter this contest and model an outfit they put together by spending no more than $20.  It can be purchased new (on sale) or from a thrift or consignment store.  While it cannot be an outfit you pull from your closet and put together, it could be a "hand-me-down" outfit from a friend or relative.    Entrants must provide receipts for the purchase of the outfits OR a signed statement from the friend or relative indicating that they did, in fact, gift the "gently worn" item to you.

We hope to have many entries in this year's contest and are interested to see your creativity in your projects.

Directions to Eliada Home can be found at www.eliada.org/directions.
