Movie Review — Scream 3 — The Final Chapter . . . Until Part 4 « Pod Crawlers

Scream 3

The Final Chapter . . . Until Part 4

2000, 116 minutes

Synopsis In 10 Words Or Less — Killer stalks a film cast.

The Good — Gone are the self-referential jokes and nudges. This movie doesn't try to be clever or pretentious like its two prequels, coming off as a slasher mystery that's more of an effective critique of the genre that its predecessors.

The Bad — The killer's motive scrapes the bottom of the creative barrel. It works, but there's no room for another movie unless the killer is brand new and has no ties to the original cast.

The Ugly — This movie is typical of horror movies from the turn of the century — bland, but serviceable. There's nothing horrible about Scream 3, but there's nothing great either. The acting's better than the previous two installments, but nothing Oscar worthy. There's not much suspense, but enough happens to not induce sleep. This movie's best used as two hours of harmless background noise.

**3/4 out of ****
