Rice Paintings « juicyrivers

I'm taking a break from my suicide series by going back to the rice paintings. Rice is an important base in the Japanese diet, culture and history so I use rice for the base of my paintings by first spray painting over rice to create a textural effect. I have a bit of an obsession with painting Koi. This painting of Grey Koi is on a black Japanese paper with gold flecks.
